DocbookMD Launches Integrated Radiology Service with Austin Radiological Association

Austin, Texas, December 17, 2013

Physicians can receive immediate alerts for STAT X-rays and scans directly on their mobile device with a unique ring tone, saving precious time when caring for urgent patient needs.

DocbookMD, a physician-owned mobile health technology company based in Austin, Texas announced it has integrated its popular mobile communication application with Austin Radiological Association (ARA), Austin’s largest independent radiological provider, to allow for real-time notifications of read X-rays and scans sent directly to a physician’s mobile device using a special ring tone.

“In the past, physicians had to wait and check for status updates on a terminal to see if an order had been read by a radiologist, taking valuable time away from caring for patients,” says Dr. Tracey Haas, DO, MPH and Co-Founder of DocbookMD. “We designed the integration with ARA to speed up a bottle-neck many physicians experience when treating patients in the ER or at a clinic or hospital. With DocbookMD, physicians and their designated support staff can now receive all critical patient-related communications in one place.”

Starting in October of this year DocbookMD began piloting its new ARA integration, with physicians in the Austin area. “Immediate communication between physicians and radiology leads to better patient care,” says Dr. Andrew Reifsnyder, Chief of Radiology at University Medical Center Brackenridge. “Receiving DocbookMD alerts directly from ARA means physicians can accelerate the time between an initial patient consult and treatment.”

Early adopters of DocbookMD’s radiology integration with ARA include Dr. James Merryman, a family physician with Austin Regional Clinic. “DocbookMD allows me to see the next patient without having to worry about checking for updates from radiology for the last one,” says Dr. Merryman. “What’s critical for physicians like me is to minimize unproductive distractions and maximize face-time with my patients.” DocbookMD is a secure, HIPAA-compliant communication and data-sharing solution for physicians and their care teams that shares in real-time messages and images such as EKGs and X-rays, resulting in more efficient care coordination. Using 256-bit encryption and a secure cloud server, DocbookMD exceeds HIPAA/HITECH standards for mobile technology, ultimately keeping health information safe, protecting patients as well as physicians.

DocbookMD is exclusively endorsed by medical societies in 39 states, which today allows almost 300,000 active, verified physicians to download and use the app for free. Docbook Enterprise allows hospitals and groups to improve communication between physicians, their support team, and other healthcare providers in the community such as pharmacies, labs and radiological clinics.
